A Note about the Website

We want to make a note about this website.

We’ve received input from several sources about the site. One of the most common complaints is that it essentially looks like a low-budget indie site. This is because it is a low-budget indie site.

What a gamer is usually sold is something like:

LOOK AT THIS. SO HYPE.

WOW. EXPLOSIONS. ACTION.

BUY NOW.

PLAY NOW.

Our site takes an alternative approach. This approach is based heavily in a textual, conceptual, philosophical method with historical origins. Gaming history is not only about the history of games themselves. It stems from a centuries-old tradition of imagination, folklore, and storytelling. This tradition cannot be – cannot be reduced to a single flashy trailer. It is far, far vaster than any one single studio, title, or genre.

We invite you to join us on a deep dive into a new approach to game design. If you give it some time, you may find it’s a philosophy and style you enjoy. We know this is an abnormal approach. We’re well aware. There is a reason for this. We choose this despite the nature of attention spans. This website is meant for MMO lovers who love the genre itself and see the direction it can take.

We’ve given it its visual and aesthetic design deliberately. This site’s aesthetic significantly diverges from normal game websites, which often appear roughly texturally and structurally similar.

We use text color on the website to enhance conceptual clarity and better convey the multifaceted levels of the games in development. We understand text color formatting can be visually odd. It exists because, if it was only white text site-wide, it would come across in a very monochromatic monotone, like a massive block of text without any contrast. We find it preferable to use this kind of text. We’re also going to add a visual accessibility toggle in the near future.

This site is an industry anomaly. This is by design. We love how it looks. It is a minimalist, visually rich layout. It presents our studio’s future vision, straight up. These are the games we make.

Even when we have the capital for broader production and marketing, our site will still look like this. We ask readers engage their imagination, and envision in their own minds what games like Chaoscraft and Castle of Nightmares can be, beyond their project scopes showcased here.
